Confirmation Camp 2007

20 confirmands and 5 leaders spent last weekend at Waterways, Sumcay's new retreat centre, for the confirmation camp. It is the first time that we've started confirmation with a camp and we must do it every year! It provided an opportunity for the class of 2007 to get to know each other and be introduced to this journey of exploring the Christian faith, but more importantly, discovering the love of God through Jesus.
We had a braai on Friday night (thanks to Michael (Schroeder), Gareth and Paul!), spotted a snake and enjoyed the luxurious accommodation. We looked at misconceptions about God on Saturday morning, learning that God is not like a vending machine, a cold distant celestial grandfather or a traffic cop out to get you, to name a few. Jen then shared on the masks we sometimes wear. We spent the day swimming, relaxing and playing Wet Prison Ball with splash bombs. After laughing for over an hour with some crazy stuff that night (thanks to our ‘volunteers’), we worshipped God and discovered how God loves us as we are.
Thanks to Jen, Mike, Marc and Jess for serving on this camp. We look forward to a great year with a great bunch of confirmands!
