Tim's Challenge to us as he goes...

Sunday morning was Tim's last opportunity to preach at our morning services... I thought he spoke brilliantly, taking time to reminisce a little, but also allowing those memories to stir up a challenge for us...

he reminded us that he began as an ordinary person sitting in the pew... when God called him to serve and to minister. He reminded us that God calls ordinary people and that God uses ordinary people. I especially enjoyed his comments about how differently you get treated when you are wearing a dog-collar... why is that? do we stop being human beings with human feelings and rela struggles just because we are ordained? It's so easy to think that ministry is done by the professionals... but God's way, as Tim challenged us to believe, is to call and to use ordinary people to accomplish his extraordinary purposes!

Lastly, he concluded by saying that he has learned, over more than 10 years at St John's that "it's all about Grace" - all that we do is ultimately about reflecting the Amazing Grace of God that we have been privileged to receive - so that others may know the comfort of being held "in the palm of God's hand"...

Thanks Tim for leaving us with such important words....
