There is wine at the wedding when we see Jesus there...

What a hot Sunday it was – in more ways than one!

I have heard so many people who were challenged/uplifted/inspired by Barry’s message
in the morning and the poem that Barry wrote which undergirded all that he said was amazing – did’nt know we had a poet here amongst us!

I felt that there was so much in the text as I read the story of the wedding at Cana in John chapter 2. There was so much in all the layers of the story that it was difficult to know what to say and what to leave for another time! But, I share with you some thoughts from our conversation at the 6 p m service.

Jesus said, that turning water into wine is a picture of all he came to do and to be , He came to us, God came to us as we did not seem to really understand what God was saying to us through the prophets…...

Jesus asks us the question : Your understanding of religion, is it life – giving?

Jesus invites us to look at the signs that point us to who God is -in the story of the water being turned into wine– we don’t need to live in a place of where we feel forsaken or desolate – we are deeply loved by God, we are precious to Him and Isaiah tells us that we are His delight!

This is wine!

It’s no mistake that this was at a wedding feast as this is a metaphor that has been used throughout scripture as a picture we can understand of the relationship God longs to have with us, and no one is too insignificant to enjoy this wine – this grace that God offers to us.

Sitting as Jesus’ feet this week has been such a blessing, don’t miss next week.
