Where have the seeds of truth been falling?

Where have the seeds been falling? As we have sat at Jesus feet and as we have
wrestled with truths that we have been hearing – where have they landed?
On the hard ground of the path?
Amongst the rocks where the roots could not go down deep?
In the thorns where they were choked and found no life?
Or have they been landing in fertile soil?
Have these seeds been free to push their roots down, like the tree we
read about in Psalm 1- planted by water sending out its roots by the stream,
that it does not fear when heat comes the leaves stay green, and it does not cease to
bear fruit …
Is this what you sense is happening within you these past 6 weeks?
Is this not something we all desire for ourselves?
So the interesting question we ask ourselves today is this –
where, how, what is fertile ground?
Is the ground fertile when we have all the latest fashions in our cupboard?
Is the ground fertile when we are high up the social ladder enough to do
some useful name-dropping?
Are we happy that we understand fertile ground when we are satisfied
with our achievements and successes?
Is it possible that we are circumference people, our understanding of the
centre of life a bit dodgy?
Is it possible that we confuse edge stuff with essence stuff?
Is it possible that we claim what is really superficial as being the stuff
of substance?
If these edge things were blatantly evil it would be easier to discern –
but the edges are not really bad – it’s just that they are passing –
Shopping for new clothes, watching sport, watching TV – the soapies,
the need to be contantly entertained, hobbies …

It’s so easy to live on the circumference that we can begin to think that
this is all there is to life.
Research tells us that the media and business are the primary voices in
the world today – but they are not always the voice of truth.
God’s voice will always be the primary voice, for it is always the
voice of truth, friends. power suppliers
It’s just that he is often difficult to discern amongst all the other voices.

Can we go back to the garden of Eden?
My sense is that we may find fertile soil there ….

When God created the work and created humanity – His dream for us was
that we should live in harmony with creation
that we should live in harmony with all people
that we should live in harmony with God

So maybe take some time to reflect on how we could more readily live our
lives in harmony – let us know what you think ……
