WE'RE INVITED TO BECOME PART OF THE SOLUTION NOT THE PROBLEM

WE’RE INVITED TO BECOME PART OF THE SOLUTION , NOT THE PROBLEM

Our reading for this past Sunday was Matt. 4 12-25 which tells of Jesus calling the disciples as they were fishing – “Come follow me and I will make you fish for men.”

I was wondering what Jesus may say to us as we get on with our daily lives – just as the fishermen were fishing – would he say “How would you like to be part of the solution – rather than a part of the problem?”

How does that grab you – I think for many of us that is something we would really want – but it is so easy to just go with the flow isn’t it?

When Jesus calls us to take up our cross its actually life – giving – yes it involves sacrifice – but the sacrifice we make allows life to blossom.

A good picture to hold here is a seed in the ground – without that happening no fruit will ever be borne from it.

Please forgive me for once again drawing our attention to the cross – our St. John’s cross but it is such a gift from God to our community – remember five circles?

Honour God in worship
Follow Jesus
Build healing community
Serve the city
Live the learning

If we make the sacrifices, this cross calls us to – life will begin to flow – but we need to allow the cross to “move” from the window and into our spirits so that it can live within us and become part of who we are.

Choosing to follow Jesus as He says to us “follow me and become part of the solution not the problem is radical, but it will allow life to flow in new and refreshing ways for all! (including ourselves………)
