Things have not exactly been easy after Barry's death. In fact, they have been quite challenging. This week would have been Barry's second week back from furlough. He would have returned with exciting gusto and a fresh vision. How we have lost out!
Many at St. John's are still in mourning, understandably so! We are also not completely over the shock of Barry's sudden death. Everybody at St. john's remembers him fondly and wants to built on the legacy he has left behind. This edition of Telling Words" will be full of tributes to him.
We also need to remember that by continuing "to do" St. John's in the spirit of Barry is also a tribute to his impressive life and the example he gave us. He set values that are Gospel-filled and as we strive to live according to them, we will honour Barry but of course ultimately bring God the glory.
The pastoral staff here at St. John's are committed to what we have been taught by Barry and are excited about the future, however daunting. You know by now that the team invites you to become involved in growing wholeness. We will stay positive and resolutely walk on without giving up. Daily we thank God for Barry and the time he could share with us and we thank God for not forsaking us but leading us forward as we build our dear St. John's.
Yours
Bevan
