...I'm so excited...!

Last year, you may remember, Stageworld Theatre School presented two children’s shows – “Pinocchio” and “The Runaway Presents”. Our top hall, which has been such an under-utilized asset, came alive with colour, lights, sounds, children’s laughter, dancing and singing.

Marlene Pieterse, the Director of Stageworld, has long wanted to develop Community Theatre and after throwing some ideas around, we are truly excited to announce that Community Theatre is coming to St. John’s!

Moms, Dads, Grannies and Grandpas – take note! All children aged from 10 years (primary school) are invited to attend these classes which will run on Friday afternoons from 15h00 to 17h00 in the Top Hall.

Classes commence on 18 March and will present an introduction to:

1) The actor and his/her instrument through role-playing and improvisation;
2) Singing and acting;
3) Acting and scriptwriting (analysis and character development)
4) Poetry and styles of interpretation
5) Storytelling

The 3rd year students of Stageworld are tasked with this project which will be credited to their course. And then at the end of every term, the children will showcase what they have learned followed by a year-end presentation devised by them.

This wonderful concept of giving young children a window of opportunity to explore the world of stage, music, dance – to feel the magic of lights, costumes and characters – is a gift to St. John’s community by Stageworld.

Aren’t we blessed!
