Stories of folk like you and me are always helpful as we seek to follow Jesus – and so on Sunday as we spent time with Nicodemus who was a Pharisee and made a choice to come to Jesus – and through this conversation with Jesus a new story began to emerge in his life – it gives us such hope and faith that as we come to Jesus as we sit at His feet we will find our hearts being transformed by God’s Spirit, as we open our hearts to being in a relationship with God – and as we dicover that this is something God really wants – it’s a mystery and a hugh blessing.
Nicodemus began to see with new eyes – he was beginning to die to his old limits of loving, to his opinion about just who were God’s “favourites” and to the limits he had put on God’s love for himself!
As he began to drop those limits he found himself being born from above and he began to love as God loves – generously and extravagantly!
He was living and was experiencing a growing wholeness within. What a lot we can learn from this encounter between Jesus and Nicodemus.
