As we know, last Sunday was Aldersgate Sunday. We, as Methodist people, must keep on celebrating this heritage. This heritage lets us know where we have come from and where we are going – and we must be proud of where we come from in our Church!
This is our heritage; it is an African truth because it is a universal truth. It is appropriate for Africa because it is appropriate everywhere. It is true for our time because it has been true for times before us. Hopefully we will remain faithful because our forefathers were faithful in their time.
I know that circumstances today are changing our way of life and of living; like rape, alcohol abuse, and the economic instability (also the abuse of power by our leaders).
All these factors are making us doubt God and our beliefs. But I love the words of John Wesley, before he died: “The best of all God is with us.”
Yours,
Mandisi
