Can we ask a person to celebrate in the face of suffering?
Can we expect a faith community to celebrate in the face of extreme hardship?
Can we call on a society to celebrate when it is crying out in pain?
The question (I suggest) is not "can we?" but rather "can we afford not to?"
We are the community that will introduce hope to a hopeless people.
We carry the committment to celebrate as a discipline. Celebration will define our way of being together as the followers of Christ.
We will go further and search the meaning of contentment, where joy is not longer dependent on the circumstances of our lives - so that even in the face of difficulty, we will remain the community of joy that the world so desperately needs...

I must say that this is my challenge this year...To be able to have joy because of who God is and not the situation or circumstance I find myself in.
ReplyDeleteThe theory is there but to practically apply it in one's life is really difficult. Its true that knowledge in itself is not enough, the power of the holy spirit is needed to actually infiltrate in a heart.
Anyone who gets hold of this comment must please say a little prayer for me or suggest a book or something!
