being obedient to yourself

obedience will get you there - but I don't believe that's the method God prefers!

Faithfulness includes obedience, but with a different motivation. Plain obedience is motivated by the desire to reach a goal or secure a prize. Faithfulness is obedience that is motivated by a relationship and a shared appreciation of the goal!

Jesus brings to the attention of Faithful disciples (see this in Luke 17:5-10) the power that they possess as partners and friends (rather than slaves and servants) in the work. Jesus says that our words command obedience - the mulberry bush will go and plant itself into the sea. Now moving mulberry bushes around may not be of great consequence. But the words we use, and the reality they create, will have great consequence for our lives and the lives of others!

Call a person an idiot and maybe you might just see them living up to their new title!!!

Jesus is drawing our attention to the incredible power we have, simply through the words we choose to speak (or not to)...

recently i heard someone say: "if it isn't necessary to say something, then it is necessary not to say it!!!"
